The New Module: Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury will be taught by Dr. Clayton Shiu and Guest world Renown Neuroscience Carrick Institute Assistant Professor Dr. Ayla Wolf! Dr. Wolf is the first Acupuncturist who has completed the academics Institute Training and became a Faculty member of the Carrick Institute. This is the first time Dr. Wolf and I are collaborating our skills and experiences for the first time in a live virtual lecture format. The lecture will cover neuroanatomy, neurological testing, and will discuss significant case studies from our private practices that will further delineate how to approach conclusion and TBI. The lectures will also teach the special needle techniques from the Nanopuncture system which covers the basics of Xing Nao Kai Qiao needle manipulation techniques from Tianjin, China.

Learn the neurological underpinnings of the symptomatic presentation of post-concussion syndrome that include physical symptoms, cognitive symptoms, emotional and behavioral symptoms, eye movement disorders, vestibular and cerebellar disorders, and autonomic nervous system dysfunction.

Learn simple bedside examinations that can be performed to assess these symptoms.

Learn how to use these neurological findings as benchmarks for changes and improvements within the central nervous system of the patient

Learn the special acupuncture techniques from both Dr. Shiu and Dr. Wolf’s clinical practices that get results

Dr. Shiu will introduce new palpation channel examination techniques to assess Taiyang, Shaoyang, and other NEW patterns to assess and treat Post-Concussion and TBI disorders

In lieu of hands on needling, case studies will be reviewed and possible break out groups will be implemented during the lectures; further info on this is TBA
