Cranial Nerves & the Autonomic Nervous System Module with Dr. Clayton Shiu and Dr. Ayla Wolf

Dr. Shiu and Dr. Wolf team up again to bring you a dynamic course on the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and cranial nerves. TBI's and concussions can have a major impact on cranial nerve function, leading to a wide range of sensory and motor dysfunction. Having a deep understanding of the origin of each cranial nerve, their function, and easy methods to assess them is vital in the treatment of patients with TBI and concussion. In this course you will learn a complete cranial nerve exam along with functional assessments for eye movements as they relate to the integrity of the brainstem. We will also discuss the link between ANS dysfunction and Ying Wei Disharmonies, and how Chinese medicine can help harmonize the ANS. Needling techniques that correlate to examination findings will be taught and then practiced in groups.
